Yet another triumph for vhf at the iF Design Award

Milling and cutting machine X awarded with renowned prize

Ammerbuch, August 11, 2020: The new milling and cutting machine X from vhf camfacture AG has won this year’s iF Design Award in the discipline product, category industry. The iF Design Award is awarded once a year by the oldest independent design institution worldwide, the iF International Forum Design GmbH in Hanover, Germany.

With this year’s prize, the company was able to receive the coveted award for the second time in a row – last year, vhf impressed the jury with the dental milling machine R5. Now also the X could convince the independent, international expert jury of 78 members. However, the number of applicants was again enormous: the jurors had to award this popular seal of quality among 7,300 submissions from 56 countries.

Nevertheless, the vhf X is much more than an example of outstanding contemporary industrial design: under its progressive exterior made of specially manufactured aluminum profiles, real high technology made in Germany is hidden. The highly automated, powerful CNC milling machine for sign making and industrial applications optimally combines speed and precision as well as strength and stability. Dr. Jens Butschan, vhf’s Division Manager Innovation and Development, is extremely pleased about this further award for the company: “This is what the X stands for: advanced technology and highest quality which guarantee precise results for the user – and now in an excellent outfit. We at vhf are very proud to have won the iF Design Award also for this machine, because it is our youngest figurehead in the field of portal milling machines and the result of thirty years of experience”.

For the exterior design of the X, vhf decided to cooperate with the successful industrial designers of Design Tech once again. Jürgen Schmid, the managing director of the company with their headquarters not far away from vhf, summarizes the appearance of the X as follows: “With the new X, vhf has created a trendsetting category of CNC milling machines. It does not only look robust and precise, it is also in practical use. The multi-touch operator guidance is intuitive with an independent software solution and sets new standards in the industry. I had been integrated into the development process until the very end and I am impressed how this enthusiastic team at vhf paid the highest attention to every detail. At any time during the conception and development, the customer’s benefit was in the center of concentration. My team and I are proud of the result and we thank vhf for this cooperation based on partnership.”
